Individual Therapy

When life’s ups and downs become too complex to bear on your own, the container of psychotherapy provides a safe way to manage your internal landscape with a caring professional. My only obligation is to witness your humanity and offer help.

About the therapist
  • Explore gender, sexuality, and relationship identities

  • Make peace with their fears, sensitivities, and judgments

  • Cope with stress related to life transitions, relationships, work, health, and the world

  • Understand and improve their relationship with nature (What is ecotherapy?)

I work with people who want to:

  • Process grief and loss

  • Get unstuck from anxiety spirals

  • Work through difficult past experiences

  • Reconnect to their bodies, pleasure, and their desires

  • Understand family dynamics and ruptures (parents, children, siblings, partners, co-workers, strangers)

I especially enjoy working with:

  • First-time therapy clients

  • Emerging adults (18-26) navigating life transitions

  • Parents of kids ages 3-17 who are exploring alternatives to conventional school (unschooling, homeschooling, or self-directed education)

  • People contemplating their end-of-life legacy

Not represented above? That’s okay! I work with a variety of clients. The first step to assessing our fit is talking about it.

HOW DOES IT WORK? Therapy FAQs

I affirm and welcome clients from minoritized and/or marginalized identities, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, fat, kink, and neurodivergent identities. I encourage clients to bring in all aspects of their identity that are relevant to them. I maintain an open dialogue with clients about how our relative social locations impacts our work together.

Whether you would like to dig deep on one specific thing or work through a number of challenges that have been going on for years or decades, I can help you grow in your self-awareness and self-compassion.

LOCATION

I see clients primarily through telehealth video calls, with some limited spots for outdoor ecotherapy sessions in Northwest Philadelphia. I intend to have an office once my practice grows enough to sustain it.

TIMING

I see clients for 55-minute sessions on a weekly or biweekly basis, depending on client needs.

Fall 2024 update: I am only able to see clients on Wednesdays, 9am-6pm. If you are not able to meet on Wednesdays, please check back in a few months to see if this has changed.

COST

Standard session (50 minutes): $120

As my practice grows, I will be able to offer a sliding scale.

I am in-network with Aetna and Medicaid (Pennsylvania). I can provide superbills for out-of-network benefit reimbursement.

Clients are responsible for payment in full at the beginning of each session. Payment is processed either by bank transfer, credit/debit card, Venmo, check, or cash. All clients are asked to keep a credit card on file, regardless of payment method.

What my clients say about working with me

"My time in therapy with Tess was extremely beneficial. She is attentive to detail, asks the right questions, and is very goal-oriented. I left with a clear picture of potential avenues to pursue in therapy to continue improving my quality of life."

“Tess is the first therapist I have ever seen and she guided me through one of the more difficult and transition-filled periods of my life. Her attentive listening, empathy, and visual awareness of non-verbal cues - even through virtual sessions - reflects her capability and desire to help and support people. I strongly recommend her to any individual seeking or considering therapy.”

“During my short-term therapy with Tess, I was able to make significant strides in self-discovery. I was able to process parts of my past to move through the present with a greater sense of understanding. This was incredibly helpful in moving through a difficult, transitional period of my life.”
